About
The Public Service Commission of Canada (PSC) is an independent agency mandated under the Public Service Employment Act. The PSC is responsible for ensuring the competence, non-partisanship and representativeness of the public service. It oversees integrity of staffing in the public service and the political impartiality of public servants. It is namely responsible for:
- Appointing or providing for the appointment of, persons to or from within the public service in accordance with the Act
- Conducting investigations and audits in accordance with the Act
- Administering the provisions of the Act relating to political activities of employees and deputy heads
- Performing any functions in relation to the public service that are assigned to it
