College of Occupational Therapists of BC
About
The College of Occupational Therapists of BC (COTBC) is responsible for ensuring the safe, ethical, and competent practice of occupational therapy in BC. It operates under BC’s Health Professions Act and the Occupational Therapists Regulation. All occupational therapists who practice in BC must be registered members of the COTBC.
The COTBC is responsible for:
- Setting standards for practice and ethical conduct
- Registering only those occupational therapists who meet established education and practice standards
- Responding fairly to concerns and complaints raised about registrants' practice
- Monitoring and supporting registrants’ continued competence
Complaints about an occupational therapist should be directed to the registrar of the COTBC directly. All complaints must be received in writing. Once a complaint has been made, the Inquiry Committee will investigate the complaint in a timely manner. See the Complaints Process for more.
