The CER:

• regulates pipelines, energy development and trade in the Canadian public interest.
• handles applications and public hearings for companies applying to build a federally regulated pipeline, powerline, or offshore renewable energy project
• Public hearings allow relevant stakeholders including companies, indigenous communities, interest groups, and individuals affected by a specific proposed project to participate and be consulted in the application process
